Albert F. Spencer believes that conservative values such as faith and family are the basis of America’s strength and must not be weakened in any way. A government of the people, by the people and for the people must eagerly accept challenges such as educating our children, ending poverty and injustice, and restoring pride in America. He believes that government leaders must lead by example and always remain close to the people being governed. Conservatism and faith both require sharing with others in need. As a beginning teacher, Albert Spencer was advised to teach little, but teach well. Similarly, he believes that the best government should promote a desire in the people to be self-sufficient and self-governing. Government spending must be accountable to the people and based on positive results.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt described December 7, 1941 and the tragedy of Pearl Harbor, as a “Day that would live in infamy.” No American would deny that September 11, 2001 is also such a day. But for millions of Americans, there is another day that is just as tragic: January 22, 1973. That is the day that five men on the United States Supreme Court ruled that abortion should be legalized (it should be noted that two members of that Supreme Court dissented and stated that the Court had no power to rule unconstitutionally in favor of abortion).
Pro-choice supporters claim that abortion has little or no physical harm to women. They further state that abortions are safe. Facts do not support these erroneous statements. Many women have been injured, maimed, or even killed by abortion practitioners in government support funded abortion facilities. If elected, Albert F. Spencer promises to introduce legislation that will enable taxpayers a choice in determining whether their taxes are used to advocate the right to life or to terminate life through abortion.
The incumbent congressman from South Carolina’s Fifth Congressional District, has repeatedly voted for, and stated support of, abortion when it is performed during the first trimester of pregnancy. It is during this first trimester of pregnancy when 90% of all abortions are performed. If elected to the United States House of Representatives, Albert F. Spencer will advocate informing pregnant women of their rights to seek life, not death, for their unborn child.
In the preceding, we have listed certain statistics and figures. Each number represents a human person--some are faceless, the unborn--some may be your friends, family, or your neighbor.
Our nation has been blessed with great freedom and a generous and religious people. But we still fall short of the American pledge “of liberty and justice for all,” our declaration to defend the inalienable, God given rights of the human person—“life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Legislators may have the right to pass the bills that govern our society, but each individual controls her or his vote when they cast their ballot. Your vote is one of most importance in terms of the impact it will have on all Americans who have the right to be treated with dignity and respect, and to future generations of human beings of infinite value who otherwise would never have existed in this land.
