“In our campaign for the right to life, for the born and the unborn, we are also fighting for the future of America.” Albert F. Spencer
“I’ve noticed that everybody who is for abortion has already been born.” Ronald Reagan, Presidential Campaign Debate, September 21, 1980.
• Since 1973, when abortion was “legalized,” there have been over 41 million abortions in the United States
• 4,000 innocent babies are aborted daily in the U.S.A. This figure is higher than the tragic losses suffered at Pearl Harbor or on September 11
• For every 1000 live births there are 305 abortions reported
• In South Carolina, there were over 10,000 abortions performed last year
• Young women, between the ages of 14-19, constitute the largest age group to receive an abortion in South Carolina
• The Supreme Court Decision that “legalized” abortion, Roe v. Wade, was not unanimous. The testimony that sentences a human being to death should be accurate and not confined to speculation, leaving no reasonable doubt. In Roe v. Wade, there was, and is, reasonable doubt. Prior to the 14th Amendment (1866), slaves were not considered human. The Justices who voted for abortion in Roe V. Wade (1973), never decided whether or not a fetus was human
• Pro-choice supporters erroneously state that women are now able to have an abortion in a safe environment with no ill effects. Documentation does not support this belief.
In discussing a visit he made to an abortion clinic, Albert F. Spencer stated that three pictures stood out vividly in his memory: “First, an elderly minister being led away by police to serve time in jail for leading a group of Christians in orderly, peaceful prayer. Second, a teenage girl vehemently expressing that, ‘I have the right to have an abortion. It is my body. If anyone doesn’t like it, they can go to hell!’ Finally, another young woman entering the facility with tears in her eyes, obviously very frightened and feeling very much alone. The latter memory is why I’m a strong advocate of adoption. It will allow the mother to choose life for her child.” Albert F. Spencer believes that Americans should have the choice of whether or not their taxes are used to support abortion. The Supreme Court should not make this decision for them. If desired, the taxpayer should be permitted to select a pro-life agency, or an adoption agency, to be the recipient of their tax funds that are presently given to abortion supporters. For example, Planned Parenthood receives billions of federal tax dollars to maintain abortion clinics, hire personnel and pay for the counseling that leads to abortion. The freedom of life is our most God-given inalienable right. A government, which defends one group’s freedom, but denies it to others, is questionable. Freedom is the right of those who have the courage to defend it. We must defend those who have no other recourse—the unborn and the mother who deserves better than a “choice” of death for her child. If we refuse to fight for the dignity of truth, we have substituted expediency for justice.
